Scholarship
We offer HKUST MBA Merit Scholarship and professional awards to outstanding MBA candidates. All
candidates will be automatically considered. Candidates do not need to indicate their interest or make
separate applications for scholarships or awards. Candidates will be considered automatically and the
admission committee determines scholarship and award recipients based on the overall quality of
submitted applications and profiles. Scholarships and professional awards are mutually exclusive.
MBA Merit Scholarship
The Merit Scholarship is awarded to exceptional candidates who demonstrate outstanding work achievements and academic accomplishments, along with a track record of leadership and evidence of continued leadership potential. Essays, references, and an admissions interview are crucial elements of the evaluation process.
MBA Global Citizen Award
For candidates with at least 2 years of global professional and/or academic experience, such as non-Asians with Asian exposure or language proficiency in Chinese or another Asian language, or Asians with international exposure.
MBA Women Business Leader Award
For women candidates who can demonstrate leadership potential and a strong track record in promoting gender and viewpoint diversity.
MBA Entrepreneurship Award
For candidates with a strong entrepreneurial spirit who have been involved in setting up their own business for a minimum of two years and plan to scale their business post-MBA.
MBA Business Technology and Innovation Award
For business leaders with a background in technology or innovation, having at least 2 years of experience in related areas, and a strong drive to contribute to their business through technology, innovation, or related areas after completing the MBA.
MBA Consulting Strategy Award
For candidates with a minimum of 2 years of experience in international consulting or strategy advisory firms, showcasing good academic results and a consistent career progression.
MBA East and Southeast Asia Business Professional Award
For candidates who are citizens or permanent residents of East or Southeast Asian countries, with a strong performance and steady career progression in business management, marketing, or finance.
MBA India Business Professional Award
For candidates holding Indian citizenship with a strong performance and steady career progression in business management, marketing, or finance.
MBA Diversity Award
For candidates from under-represented nationalities, such as those from Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, Northern and Eastern Europe, or other under-represented backgrounds, who can contribute to the diversity of the MBA cohort. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate leadership potential in their respective industry.
MBA Middle East and Central Asia Award
For candidates holding Middle East or Central Asia countries citizenship with a strong performance, network and cultural background.
MBA ANZ Award
For candidates holding citizenship in Australia or New Zealand with strong performance, academic achievement and overall business leadership potential.
MBA ASEAN Region Award
For candidates holding citizenship in ASEAN nations with strong leadership potential and professional achievement.
MBA Social Sector and Public Service Award
For candidates with a track record of working in the social sector or public service, or running their own business that cooperate with or support the NGO or Government business partners.

Financial Aid
University Financial Aid
HKUST provides a variety of financial aid for post graduate students
who need assistance. Eligible MBA students could apply university
financial aid through different financial assistance schemes
Government Loan
Scheme/ Financial Aid
Eligible Hong Kong residents have the option to apply for the
Continuing Education Fund (CEF) offered by the HKSAR Government.
The following courses have been included in the list of reimbursable
courses under the Continuing Education Fund. They are recognized
under the Qualifications Framework (QF Level [6]). After 1 August
2022, successful applicants who are HK citizens and are eligible for
CEF may be reimbursed with a maximum sum of HK$25,000 upon
successful completion of the entire program/course(s) with an overall
attendance rate over 70%. For details and updates of eligibility,
application, and reimbursement procedures (in particular the
reimbursement period from the date of application), please check the
CEF Office or 3142-2277 (24-hour enquiry hotline).
Meanwhile, as informed by the Labour and Welfare Bureau (LWB),
for CEF courses to be offered with effect from Fall 23 Term, students
are required to sign a Statement of Consent & Acknowledgement for
the CEF reimbursement claims with one form per course in each
